Deep Cleaning/Scaling and Root Planing

Not all cleanings are the same in dentistry. If you haven’t been to the dentist in a long time, tartar can build on your teeth and cause the bone around your teeth to melt away. This leads to deep pockets around your teeth. Those deep pockets are difficult to clean even for the dentist and usually requires local numbing to adequately get all of the tartar off.
